Mobile phone reception is available here and they have a mail service also. Dogs are permitted here providing they are kept on a lead at all times and exercised outside the camp ground.
The bowling green is somewhat of a surprise out here on the remote Kimberley station, however an ingenious introduction for fellow travellers to meet and enjoy a game together whilst swapping travel stories and socialising with those with common interests. No doubt there’s been plenty of Aussie tales told and travel advice given on this green over the years.
Socialising with other happy campers is all part of the Australian road trip experience, particularly when you reach places like this. Barn Hill encourages it and holds a weekly communal barbecue at the bowling green where everyone can congregate, enjoy some dinner and drinks together and even get in a few bowling matches. Sounds like a social and friendly place doesn’t it? Many retirees pull up for a few weeks and settle in, enjoying the scenery, socialising and of course the fishing.
There is 4WD beach access for the boating enthusiasts to launch and retrieve their vessels, however no other vehicles are permitted on the beach. The station provides free use of their air compressor for vehicles utilizing the boat ramp.
The magnificent beach
here is ideal for swimming, fishing and soaking up the sun and the
view. It really is breathtaking and not far off the highway, so if you
aren’t interested in staying but interested in the scenery and the
possibility of staying next time, call in and take a look at this little
piece of paradise. Barn Hill is a carefree getaway and a great spot to
pull in and relax before or after busy, busy Broome.
