Batemans Bay

Batemans Bay is located 272km southwest of Sydney on the banks of the Clyde River and overlooking the river mouth which meets the bay. It is blessed with a water playground of beaches, inlet and river.

Surfside, on the northern river bank via Peninsula Drive, is a lovely secluded beach in a quiet residential area. With views across to Square Head and the mouth of the river it’s a beautiful scenic beach in a serene setting.

Caseys Beach, via Beach Rd at Batehaven, is a nice protected beach with calm waters and a foreshore picnic area. This safer swimming beach is a good one for families with children.

Surf Beach, further south along Beach Rd, is another nice stretch of beach suitable for swimming and body surfing. A kiosk sells refreshments here and there are also barbeque and picnic facilities.

batemans-bay-clyde-river The Clyde River and its adjoining creeks are fishing grounds for the keen angler. The many waterways offer diverse fishing options from freshwater to salt, river to sea, you are bound to have some luck here. As fishing is a popular pastime around the bay, there are boat hire companies in town and fishing charters with local guides. Houseboats are also available to hire for casual cruising on the river where you can wet a line in the comfort of your own holiday home.

Waterways and fishing aside, the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens showcase a variety of local native plants from the Eurobodalla region. The Australian bush setting features many recognizable species such as Bottlebrush, Banksia and Grasstrees and an assortment of wildflowers and sensory plants. A limited mobility trail allows wheelchair access and a visitors centre and café are also here. The gardens are located on the Princes Hwy 5km south of town and are open from 9am to 4pm Wednesday to Friday and from 10am on weekends and public holidays.

Batemans Bay has several caravan parks and a large variety of other accommodation to accommodate tourists exploring the Eurobodalla Coastline. The picturesque region is unspoilt and offers a long list of activities to experience on the beautiful waterways. You wont get bored here.
