Beef Stroganoff

"Beef Stroganoff is a delicious beef and mushroom dish with a tomato and sour cream based sauce, presented on a bed of rice."


500g rump steak sliced thinly

2 garlic cloves finely chopped

200g mushrooms sliced

½ cup beef stock

2 Tblspn tomato sauce

1 300ml carton sour cream

2 tspn cornflour

2 Tblspn tomato paste

2 Tblspn oil

1 cup rice or 300-400g pasta


Heat oil in pan until hot and stir-fry steak strips until just cooked. Remove from pan and cover.

Add garlic and cook for 2-3 mintes, then add mushrooms and cook until soft.

Combine tomato paste, cornflour and sour cream.

Add tomato paste mix and beef stock to pan and simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.

Return steak strips to pan and simmer for 2 minutes or until steak is heated through.

Meanwhile boil water and cook rice or pasta as per packet directions.

Serve topped with beef stroganoff mixture.
