"Caravan parks are a popular, cheap and convenient form of accommodation on the great Australian road trip."
There are so many to choose from and practically every town has one, even in the outback. The park experience is all part of the fun whilst travelling around the country. You meet all sorts of people from far and wide doing the same as you are, exploring Australia.
It’s a great atmosphere in which to relax and at the end of the day exchanging stories and tips with fellow travellers.
Australian tourist and holiday parks offer a range of accommodation options and facilities for your convenience and to suit your budget. They all offer unpowered and powered sites and many have cabins and chalets available for rent. Swimming pools, games rooms, internet access, laundry facilities, camp kitchens and TV rooms are also common in most.
Parks with plenty of shade and scenic views are always appreciated and the pet friendly parks get the big tick on our list. Many ask for a dog bond which you need to remember to collect on departure and it goes without saying to please pick up after your pets and keep them under control at all times. Pet owners want to continue being welcomed at these parks. Take note some pet friendly parks, particularly in tourist hotspots, do not allow pets during school holiday periods, especially over summer and long weekends.
We’re finding more and more parks are members of chains such as Family Parks, Discovery Holiday Parks, Big 4 and Top Tourist Parks. These chains offer memberships for the avid travellers, where for a fee you can join and be eligible for a discounted rate when you stay with parks in that particular chain. Long-term travellers will find these memberships beneficial and save money in the long run.
Australian holiday parks are quite social places, especially for
tourists. When you meet nice people, get friendly service and thoroughly
enjoy your stay, you’ll find yourself wanting to return again.
We've spent a lot of time compiling printable lists of caravan parks for each state and territory around Australia for you. Simply click on the state link you desire, then in the pop-up box which appears, select save file and it will automatically download to your computer. Open the file in downloads and print and/or save to your computer. These files are virus-free! We wouldn't be allowed to upload them onto our Solo Build It website if they weren't. These lists are so handy to have when travelling as they have the holiday location, accommodation name, address and contact phone number for as many parks as we could possibly find (within reason of course). We hope they help you on the road as much as they've helped us.
