Daly Waters is located about 274km south of Katherine on the Stuart Highway and is the site of Australia’s first International Airport. Still standing here is the Daly Waters Pub which is the oldest operating pub in the Northern Territory, built in the 1930’s and licensed in 1938.
During World War II Daly Waters was a staging post for aircraft, RAAF headquarters, hospital and a mobile surgical unit.
The pub itself is filled with character and many memoirs left by patrons over the years. It’s worth calling in for a cold drink, delicious meal or the big 2 litre Darwin Stubby as a souvenir or refreshment when travelling this section of the Stuart Highway.
Air-conditioned hotel, cabin and backpacker rooms are available as well as powered and unpowered camp sites. A swimming pool is located on site and entertainment is provided each night during the dry season between April and September. Pets are welcome!
