Nambucca Heads is located 47km south of Coffs Harbour, where the Nambucca River flows from the Nambucca Valley to the Pacific Ocean. The coastal town is surrounded by waterways and is incredibly scenic.
Gordon Park overlooks the beautiful estuary and is a fabulous picnic and barbeque location with excellent facilities. There’s a walkway along the foreshore here and also a rainforest walk to enjoy.
Nambucca has many gorgeous beaches on the estuary and on the coast. There are several nice calm beaches at the end of Wellington Drive near the breakwater, perfect for families with children.
Main Beach is accessible via Short St and is where the local surf lifesaving club is located. Those keen for some surf can swim here at the patrolled beach.
Shelley Beach via Parkes St is just beautiful with crystal clear water and rocky headland. This would have to be the prettiest beach around here.
The Nambucca River also has a couple of beaches on its banks. Along Riverside Drive are Anzac and Bellwood Parks which have barbeque and picnic facilities and offer calm swimming in the river. Dogs are permitted along the river.
Captain Cook Lookout at the top end of Parkes St offers panoramic views of Shelley Beach and the Nambucca River mouth. The scenery around Nambucca is just breathtaking.
Nambucca has two impressive scenic lookouts along Parkes St. Rotary Lookout offers some stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, Nambucca River mouth and the lagoon.
With so many waterways around Nambucca fishing is a popular pastime
. Spanish Mackerel, Snapper, Flathead, Groper and Cod are commonly caught offshore here. Land-based catches include Jewfish, Tailor, Flathead, Bream and Whiting.
