The Strand is the city's esplanade and what a magnificent stretch it is. Exceptionally well-maintained lawns, lines of palm trees, wide pathways, doggie water fountains, water playground, lifeguard patrolled foreshore pool, jetty, eateries galore and not to mention the outstanding views across to Magnetic Island. The Strand is very impressive and oozes class and charm, a popular place to be and it’s so obvious why.

The 3km steep winding climb via Stanley St is not suitable for caravans and only a short easy walk takes you to the lookout point. Toilets and a chilled water fountain are provided here for your convenience.

Anderson Park Botanic Gardens on Gulliver St offers a variety of palms, pandanus and cycads and a lovely lake covered with flowering lilies frequented by birdlife. Stroll through the gardens and enjoy the different plant species or relax by the lake and feed the ducks. The atmosphere here is very tranquil.

The Palmetum on University Rd features an extensive collection of palms from varying climatic zones. Rainforest vegetation and water features compliment the palm gardens nicely giving it a real tropical feel.

townsville-magnetic-island Magnetic Island is a popular offshore attraction and is within easy reach. The island is just a half hour trip by ferry, with the option to take your vehicle over. The vehicle ferry terminal is located on Ross St and the passenger ferry on Sir Leslie Thiess Drive. Magnetic Island is a wildlife haven with rainforests, lagoons and bushland. The island offers plenty of accommodation, water activities, Great Barrier Reef and diving tours, horse-riding and much more.

Townsville is a picturesque holiday destination with much to see and do in and around town. The marvellous scenery will not disappoint.
