Wynyard is located 69km northwest of Devonport on the shores of the Bass Strait and the banks of the Inglis River. Known for its fertile soils hosting a magnificent tulip farm, the region is a burst of colour during springtime when the spectacular flowers are in bloom.

The Table Cape Tulip Farm is situated 7km from town via Table Cape Rd and specialises in dutch iris, liliums and of course tulips. Fresh flowers and bulbs are for sale at certain times throughout the year and bulbs can be pre-ordered and shipped anywhere in the country, even overseas. The colourful flowering fields are open between the last weekend of September to mid October and an entry fee applies during this time. For the remainder of the year the farm shop is open and you can purchase flowers and bulbs and learn about cultivating your own. The farm shop is open daily from 9am to 4.30pm.

The farm shop and visitor centre is also the starting point for the Table Cape Lighthouse experience. Take a guided tour of the historic lighthouse dating back to the 1880’s and enjoy the sweeping views of the coastline and back towards the tulip farm from 180m above.

More beautiful coastal views can be seen from Fossil Bluff which is just 3km from the town centre. A short 100m walk to the top of the headland reveals views either side and back towards town and the Inglis River. The northern coastline is indeed a visual pleasure.

Gutteridge Gardens on the banks of the Inglis River is the starting point for several scenic walks exploring the area. wynyard-gutteridge-gardens The pathway follows the river to Cape Bridge and across to Fossil Bluff where you can enjoy the stunning views from atop the headland.

The Wonders of Wynyard is another of the town’s attractions on display at the Visitors Centre. The veteran car display features restored immaculate old Fords dating back to 1903 and boasts 1 of 2 Ford Model A vehicles, being the oldest in the world. The collection is open for viewing daily and an entry fee applies.

This is such a charming township in a delightful setting. The coastline, the Inglis River and the colourful spring blooms of Table Cape complimented by the old fashioned country charm make it a delight to visit
